I'm Inés Hernández, an interdisciplinary artist born, raised, and based in NYC. I’m also an experimenter, an educator, and a fervent lover of raw honey. My work explores the human, the natural, and the sacred through jewelry, metalwork, collage, sculpture, and printmaking.

Where the concrete and linear fall short, the dreamlike and cyclical reveal truth. I experience the process of creation as a deepened connection to divinity. Working hands bring wisdom, ancient and ineffable, into the material realm. In this embodied dimension, we make sense of being.

When materials behave in unexpected ways, when pliers jam and ink runs and clay cracks inopportunely, the supple and resolute determination of the artist draws her closer to something sacred. In the kneading of the moistened clay and the rinsing of the cyanotype compounds, in the light of the torch flame and the heat of the soldering iron.

The resulting work feels heavier in my hands than the sum of its parts. It appears, to my senses, to be an artifact from higher worlds.

You can see my recent studio pieces here. Thanks for being here and taking part in the magic.
